Hi forU4nd1. Glad you liked this series. I bought the dvd mainly because I recognized one of the actors on the cover. He is Zheng Guo Lin, the actor who played the role of Li Shi Min in the series The heroes of Sui and Tang. Although he only appeared in the second part of that series, he was very impressive as the dynamic second son of the first Tang emperor. Glad I did because this was a very entertaining series – interesting plot with likeable characters and what was very important to me was that it had a happy ending.

Here's a brief outline for those who would like to know more about this enjoyable tv series.
The story starts with the scene at the palace where the boy emperor is having an audience with his advisors. Two of his top officials, Tie Ying and Sui Ju Yi are having a rather heated exchange of words on how the empire is being governed. The emperor is actually too young to really understand what is going on but manages to say the correct words at the right time. The emperor’s mother ( the Tai Ho ) is actually the power behind the throne. She wants to do her best for her son – to guide him and to ensure that he doesn’t lose the empire to his enemies. The late emperor had been poisoned to death and she was terrified for the safety of her son. She was worried that her two most influential generals, Sui Ju Yi and Sha Li would try to wrest the power from her as they had their armies behind them. Her hopes are on the late emperor’s brother, Jin Wang, whom she trusted and had loved when she was young to return from his self exile to help her out.

Our hero, Tie Zhong Yu chances on the heroine Sui Bing Xin as she was bidding farewell to her fiancé, general Hou Xiao who was leaving for battle. Zhong Yu is smitten by her beauty and is overjoyed to find out later on that she was his childhood playmate and confidante. When he is not allowed to see her at her house, he decides to climb over the wall to search for her. He is mistaken for an intruder and caught by her guards. On hearing that he is imprisoned there, his mother marches to the house demanding that he be released. On finding out that he was there due to his own misdeeds, she faints and this soon leads to the meeting up of their two families who were very close at one time but the relationship was estranged due to the fact that their fathers had differences in political ideals and stands.

Sha Li who has designs on the throne, plots to discredit Sui Ju Yi as he stands in the way of his plans to take over the empire. Both of them have strong and intimidating armies that would either help to strengthen an empire or destroy it. Sha Li gathers some false discriminating evidence on Sui Ju Yi which led to the arrest of the general. General Hou Xiao has the book which would clear his foster father’s name but he is attacked and loses his wits. The task of helping general Hou find the book to clear Sui Ju Yi’s name now falls on our hero and heroine.

This series has quite an interesting twist in the storyline as the viewer will soon realize that the late emperor’s brother is not the kind and gallant man he tries to portray. There seems to be a ruthless spark in his eyes….

The Characters :

1. Young Master Tie (Tie Zhong Yu)
The hero of this series. He is a brilliant scholar and is also good at martial arts thanks to his mother. A rather talkative and playful character who is rather spontaneous and has a bit of a devil may care manner about him. He also has a charming sense of wit. Sometimes he can be a bit too sure of himself as was shown when he thought that he had outwitted his father’s chief guard only to find that the man had known about his trickery all along. He is also rather persistent in his pursuit of his sweetheart, the heroine, Sui Bing Xin who was his childhood friend. He shows his playful and romantic side with her, often calling her Sui jie jie so endearingly and guilelessly.

2. Sui Bing Xin
The heroine. A very sweet and beautiful girl who is the object of many men’s desire. She is also a brilliant scholar who can also play the Chinese harp extremely well.

3. Sha Wu
The son of one of the main villains in this series. He really falls madly in love with the heroine, to the extent that he even cruelly causes his wife to leave him although she is carrying his child. A spoilt and conceited fellow whose only saving grace is his concern and filial piety to his mother.

4. General Hou
The adopted son of the heroine’s father. A fearless warrior who is the strong silent type who was betrothed to the heroine. He is her father’s right hand man who is in charge of his armies. He looks very similar to Sha Wu (played by the same actor). Later we find out that they are actually blood brothers. A bit of a male chauvinist who thinks that women are only good at staying at home and taking care of household stuff.

5. Tie Ying
The hero’s father. One of the Queen’s chief ministers. A taciturn fellow on the outside but don’t let his demeanour mislead you as he is wise and can be rather witty. The actor playing this character has a lovely low and authoritative voice. Enjoyed watching his interactions with his wife and Sui Bing Xin’s father.

6. Tie Fu Ren
The hero’s mother. Together with her husband, they make a very likeable couple. A strong character who dominates over both her husband and son.

7. Sui Ju Yi
The heroine’s father. Both he and the hero’s father were good friends many years ago but due to difference in political ideals and stands, they started bickering and arguing and thus became rivals. He also holds an important post in the government as both he and Sha Wu ‘s father Sha Li are generals with armies behind them.

8. Sha Li
Sha Wu’s father. One of the main villains. He was obsessed with his best friend, General Yun’s wife so much so that he killed the general’s whole family so that he could marry her. However, she only found out about his vicious deed ten years later.

9. Wei Huan
She is the daughter of an old family friend of the heroine, Sui Bing Xin’s father. After the death of her parents, she comes to stay with them. On the way there, Tie Zhong Yu saves her from Sha Wu and his men and she soon falls for our dashing hero. A prim and proper girl who is kind and considerate. She took good care of general Hou when he was injured and was behaving strangely. She was also selfless in her love for Zhong Yu and graciously backed out when she knew that he only loved Bing Xin.

at first i think a very boring....
BUT... my mistakes, the series was good enough.. (still currently watch the series)..... couldn't stop.....except .... for work...(Damn!)

I heard this series is pretty good, esp acting by the two leads. The story is also interesting too.

I like the character that ZGL is playing. Heard he had a series airing in Korea and the Koreans liked him very much. He has really good acting skills.

finally make it to the ending. the ending was good... huhu

Zhen Guo lin play nicely... and because i a guys so.... support DOng Xuan - michelle dong.. she very pretty in the series...
i'm not regret buying it.... it GOOD movie
