I like the gang of young brothers of XRG in the army, they are fresh face, energetic and cute. Other than that, I can't say much about stand-out performance. But I am sucker for a good story, so I've been entertained.

Huang Hai Bing as Qin Qiong was so miscasted it wasn't even close. Being rugged leader of the Wa Gang Clan, Qin Qiong was such a famous almost household ancient name. Instead, we had this no personality pretty boy potray by HHB. Nie Yuan, in the role of Luo Cheng, shined much more as the second lead. And I hated the love quadra angles between QQ, LC and the two awful girls. Couldn't been more futher from the famous fable.

The third fo the triology was about XRG's son(s) and grand sons, in the wars against Liao country and against Wu Ze Tian.

Actually baring a major surprise, Bao Bao's big break will come from the remake of Yi Lian You Meng by Qiong Yao in which Bao Bao is currently filming. Pretty much everyone in Qiong Yao's series made it big in the past.

Call me picky, but they should have gotten an older actor to play XRG's father considering he's supposed to have had XRG at an older age than usual. The actor they cast had young hands and a young face, but his hair was dyed gray/white. ...
Year, that XRG's father was so fake, it was comical.

At least HHB had the stature, if not the face. Xue Ren Gui doesn't seem to have much of a personality so far either. That buddy of his who joined the army with him is much more animated. I agree with you about Nie Yuan as Luo Cheng. Too bad he came to such a tragic end. Luo Tong is his son, right? I hope the series doesn't focus too much on a love triangle between XRG, LT, and the princess (who reminds me of Amy Kwok).

Neither of the actresses who play XRG's love interests match Bao Bao. With so many pretty girls in China, you'd think they would have found 2 of them for these roles?!?

I hope they complete the trilogy with a new series about the last story too!

Bao Bao's new modern serial: http://ent.sina.com.cn/v/m/f/aijal/index.html

Bao Bao plays a stunt double who falls for the female lead played by Wang Li Kun. Li Zong Han appears to be the male lead, though.

I use to hate Bao Jian Feng because of Wu Mei Niang. But I'm starting to like him now. lol He's awesome inside Moment in Peking. Well his character dies in the end. But it's all because of his bad family. They changed him!

It's insensible to hate an actor because of a character he played, but I guess he must have done a great job in the role to make you feel so strongly about him.

BTW, Bao Bao's not in Moment in Peking. You must be thinking of another actor.

I've been watching Xue Ren Gui Chuan Qi.

It's been okay so far, nothing spectacular, but there are moments in the series where I go *aw* that's so cute!

Fairly impressed with BJF's acting (I'm sorry, but I find it really weird to call him bao bao. Don't know, just have a weird mental image ), even though his character is a bit stiff. But he looks very impressive in his white armour! Very handsome! He's got 'da jiang feng du'!

I think the main downfall of this series is the female leads- neither his wife or the princess look very compatible with him. His wife looks, er, kind of weird. I like Jin Qiao Qiao (the princess). I was relaly impressed with her acting as Na Qi Ya in "Tai Zu Mi Shi" with Steven Ma. I thought she was really pretty (looking so beautiful and heartwrenching with her large teary eyes), and she came across as intelligent and lovely. She has a similar role in this series, but I just don't like her character as much, and for some reason, I don't find her as pretty. Maybe it's just the really ugly costuming. The Na Qi Ya attire really suited her, with all the dangly stuff and stars on her eyes etc, but in this series, her costumes are kind of ick.

Anyway, when I saw the front cover, I was like, hm... I know this guy (this was back when I didn't know who Bao Jian Feng was). And then I googled his name, and I saw that he was Li Zhi in Zhi Zun Hong Yan. My reaction:

    lol

But seriously, I was like OMG. I could not believe it. I really didn't like Li Zhi in ZZHY, partly because he broke up Alyssa and Vincent, but mainly because his character is just weak and unlikeable. I remember vaguely thinking hey, this prince guy (when he was the tai zi) is quite a nice eye candy, but then went on to hate the stupid character. I think the moustache later on kind of ruined it for me.

My point is though, and the reason why i was so shocked, is because Li Zhi is like the opposite of Xue Ren Gui. And BJF played a very convincing XRG (righteous, honourable, morally strong etc), but then I think back to Li Zhi (weak, ineffective, coward) and I just can't correlate the two characters being played by the same person! But I guess tat just shows how versatile BJF actually is. lol, I still find it weird even thinking about it. They're just that different. But I am really impressed, because I think BJF played these two characters very well. There were no repeated mannerisms. You know how sometimes an actor plays different roles, but carries certain mannerisms across them, and it can get a bit tedious? Well, BJF didn't do that- I did not see a shred of Li Zhi in Xue Ren Gui (and I guess we can be thankful for that!). For that, I applaud him.

So yes, so now I'm a fan!

Just something which amused me a little. In ZZHY, BJF plays Li Zhi, but in XRGCQ, he plays XRG, who is Li Zhi's subject (chen zi) and almost gets sentenced to death by Li Zhi. lol, I don't know why, but that kind of intrigues me. I don't know, but I find it funny.

I watched the series of Bao Bao as the weak-willed, sex-crazed emperor (starring Bao Bao, Vincent Zhao and Alyssa) at the same time as his other series Qing Tian Ya Men with Bao Bao in the role of Kang Xi.

He's such an incredible actor that it took me almost 3 tapes before I figured out that it's the same actor for both the series. BJF completely immersed himself in his roles that even viewers are left baffled on whether or not it's the same actor who played these opposite roles.

Luv him to death, but wasn't able to see any of his series recently in Viet dubbed.

    hehe...

I think it was the way he held himself in ZZHY, like his stance... I dunno, but it was very well done! I think I should watch ZZHY again, just to get a different impression for Li Zhi. I think this time round, I'd be more inclined to be amused rather than annoyed, as I was last time. I'd also probably be annoyed at Alyssa and thinking, why would you go for Vincent Zhao when you can have bao bao and be queen as well? lol...

Btw, do you know if the voice in ZZHY (where he played the emporer) was his real voice? Because I think the voice in "Xue Ren Gui Chuan Qi" is different, and I was just wondering which one his real voice was.

Bao Bao's voice was definitely dubbed in ZZHY and I'm inclined to say he was dubbed in XRGCQ as well. Jennie would probably know for sure, but I don't know where she went. Bao Bao actually has a very nice voice...deep, manly, and sexy.

I must be one of the few who was more amused than annoyed by Li Zhi in ZZHY. Wu Mei Niang was the one who had me alot with her stupidity and naivety.

Have you guys seen Bao Bao in any modern series yet? "Ai Jiu Ai Le" is out, but I don't know when I'll get a chance to watch it. And unfortunately Bao Bao isn't the lead.

Actually, there was another forum (like Spcnet) a while ago and I along with other ladies were drooling over Bao Bao in his role as Li Emperor in ZZHY. We all felt that he would have been a better emperor if Alyssia's character have been more devoted toward him. That forum crashed a few years back and has not been up since. We had so many pages on Bao Bao...ahh the good time!

Lol, I must say I was counting on you to reply, Lady Zhuge.

I read the synopsis for "Ai Jiu Ai Le".

    SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER!

Bao Bao's character dies in the end! And also, the character becomes really engrossed in money/wealth and sort of turns kind of nasty...

    END SPOILER.

I must also agree with you that Wu Mei Niang annoyed me a little too in ZZHY. I could not understand how she could be so naive on one hand (so trusting of all her enemies), but on the other hand, be uberly clever and smart in the big business of looking after the country? It just didn't make sense t me. How could she be good at the big picture if she isn't at the little picture? I think her character was underdeveloped; I wouldn't have mind if she started off naive/innocent, as long as she gradually became more aware and cleverer. But she was the same throughout- no character development.

But I digress. Back to bao bao.

He's very funny. This entry in his blog amused me.

A spoiler warning would have been greatly appreciated.

OH NO! I'm so sorry about that! It just completely passed me! *horrified* I shall go back and edit the post with large flashing SPOILER signs so I shall ruin it for no-one else. But I guess you won't be exactly able to forget it, right? I'm so sorry!

Yes... I've eased into it, because saying his full name just seems... stiff... I have conquered my fear of odd mental images.

And I did come across the haircut one... seeing as I read all the entry to his blog in one sitting... Thanks for your tip about posting images... but I can't put an image in... seems like silly me has forgotten the username for my photobucket account. *sigh* must go register for a new one.

Xiao Cheng Wang Shi looks very good! I hope it's not too tragic though (as stories set in that era tend to be ). I shall also refrain from reading the full detail summary so as to not inadvertently spoil anything further. Did you notice that one of the actresses (bottom right on sina link) was Rong Mo Mo in HZGG?

And to finish off, I found the perfect smilie to summarize my fangirling for bao bao:
